about

This album is a work spanning 2 months of various experiments. The first half of the record is divided into 4 unique pieces. The first section is created using various samples from a back catalogue of 7" singles, manipulated Sine at 440hz and 200 people playing boomsticks.

This was an amalgamation of activity gathered together suddenly in a session of experiment after collating each sound in very separate circumstances. The end result is a star like ambient movement akin to relaxation and contemplation.

The second piece is a raw improv session comprised of loops from a prepared violin. This was made in reaction to the demand of a creepy sound with a folk twinge from a filmmaker friend.

The final piece is different from the film-based music. This is unprocessed and utterly raw, recorded straight to phone in one take. Each progression is a reaction to the last with a distorted motif beneath. It is supposed to haunt and chafe in equal measure.

The third piece is a heavily edited sample from a slab of synthwave vinyl, distorted barely beyond recognition with the additions of live vocals and field recordings of a bonfire. This was made in conjunction with footage from a red and green fire which has inspiration form old Hammer technicolor horror.

The final piece is a sketch from warped vinyl, processed vocals and delirious imagined pop. It is a punctuation to the first half and not an individual motion within it's self. It's unashamed borrowing of sound with a drunken free rant of execution.

The second side opens with a piece created from Halusi. violin, accordion and samples from Indonesian flute. It opens in a dawn chorus of improvised sounds to shimmer like insects over the ambiance of a morning's droning chorus. My vocals hum and sing to match the tonal qualities throughout.

Next up is a raw recording of a pile of logs from an old acorn tree. Many of the logs are struck with a wooden mallet or branch as well as a metal hoe. This is loosely edited with traces of rhythm, though kept in arrhythmic studies for a puzzling percussive display.

The final long drone piece is made from a live orchestral warm up in a hall, with the additional crowd chatter filtered in slowly and dreamlike. Many micro loops were built to create the undulating sounds within.

The record is a hypnotic attempt to depict the turbulence of recent states. Both peace and discord have featured heavily in my recent life and I wanted to share these feelings through sonic experiment.
